Starbucks Iced Pineapple Matcha and Iced Pink Drink with Matcha and Vanilla Foam

Matcha-Sweet Matcha

One fact you may know about me from previous posts is that I love Chai Latte’s. My early morning Starbucks on the way to work has always been a Chai Latte from the pre-order app-thank you once again to my friend that introduced me to that life saver for the early morning rush. Recently I cheated on my beloved Chai Latte after a recommendation of a London Fog. I decided that would be my secret Starbucks cheat but here I am at it again with not one but TWO new summer drinks. Oh iced matcha, how tempting you are.

Introduction to Matcha

I first tried a hot matcha as many friends raved about it. I kept being told “you’ll love it” and “it’s amazing” so about a year ago I jumped on the matcha train. Yuck!!!! It was gross!! Is this the acquired taste that everyone told me I should try? Yep-”No thanks”.

Revolucion

It wasn’t until I went to Revolucion Coffee and Juice that I decided to try matcha again. I decided to try their Yoga Matcha and I loved it. The next time I went in the server recommended that I try it with Almond Milk and that has been my go to there ever since.

Iced Tea

This summer I have been on an iced tea kick and recently saw a matcha at Starbucks that I was curious to try- the Iced Pineapple Matcha. I’d either love it or hate it, right? When I started talking about ordering it and my non-hot tea drinking daughter told me about another iced matcha I should try. This was a drink that her friend-my number one instagram fan-orders. This one is a more specialty drink. It is a Pink Drink (yes that is what it is called)-with a scoop of matcha and vanilla cold foam-well if it was from my number one instagram fan I had to try it. 2 orders of iced matcha to go.

Iced Matcha Thoughts

After a quick drive through visit I got my topnotch reviewers together again-my husband, hot tea drinking daughter, non-hot tea drinking daughter and myself. Now it was time to drink and compare.

You can definitely taste the matcha but it is not crazy strong. You can also taste and smell a milder fruit flavor. My hot-tea drinking daughter said it reminded her of a green tea ice cream. I would say if you’d prefer a matcha with fruit this is it. A definite re-order. Sorry Chai Latte.

This drink is like a yummy milkshake as it is thicker. You could not taste the matcha as much but definitely the strawberries. A true hit for a sweet tooth-yummy! I would say if you’d rather a more fruity drink with mild matcha then this is the way to go. Another definite re-order. EEK-sorry Chai Latte.

So for convenience of the Starbucks app ordering I would go with Iced Pineapple Matcha. If you have time to stop and order I would also recommend the specialty order. Each of these iced matchas are truly worth a try and a possible easy way to put your toe in the matcha tea pool.

Do you have a favorite Matcha?
