A Year of Tea

Although I have been a tea drinker all of my life, 2019 was when my tea and blog journey began. I can’t believe it has been a year! I have found so many fun adventures along the way. One cup at a time.

I had wanted to start a blog for a while but kept putting it off for some reason or another. Finally I just took a deep breath and a leap of faith.

How to start something new

People have approached me about how they would like to start a blog. There’s no time like the present. Here are some thoughts on blogs or anything new you want to try–Do it! Sometimes you just need that extra push 🙂

Why My Tips and Tea- Choosing Categories

This is how it all began. I chose 5 subjects that I love to talk about or do.

I chose Tips first-thinking of my teenagers and friends. I realized that there are some easy tips I knew that may help them sometime. My first being how to make the perfect soft boiled egg. This article was for one particular teen who preferred how I made soft boiled eggs over her Dad’s-eek!  Now they both know my way 🙂

Tea-My morning does not start without a cup of tea or two. Putting the kettle on and having a cup of  tea is something used for every happiness, any problem, any chat. I love tea to be social and for time alone. I just love tea! Discovering other teas I’ve never tried or going to tea shops I have never been to on this journey has been a blast.

Other categories in my blog

Travel- We love to travel and no matter where I went it always involved tea. When I was in Chicago in search of tea being one of them. Perfect combination.

Parties- We love having parties, usually they have some tea influence. Like my daughters garden party on a budget

Food- Some have been based around tea like my discovery of some easy peasy scones or how to make an easy egg salad sandwich.

Wellness- Who doesn’t need some clearness of mind, or some pomegranate green tea to fight a cold?

Ask a friend if you are unsure of what subjects you should write about-I bet they would know.

Goal setting

Every New Year I set a new goal for myself with a strict rule-I never start any new goal on January 1. I wrote down my starting a blog goal for 2019 and began researching how to put a blog together in December 2018 with a January deadline in mind. I just kept pushing myself. Your date could be  a random Thursday in July. Just choose one.

Begin your journey

Laptop with starry night cover, yellow composition book and blue pen

Get out of the ‘too late I missed it’ moment to just beginning and doing. Blogging became like a second job to me-sometimes burning quite a bit of midnight oil.  I just began to write-everyday if I could, even if it was just ideas or something thrown on my phone.

Deadlines

After setting up the website I decided how often I would publish an article. I then set up social media links. Did I care if anyone read my blog? No-but I was so excited as people started to chat about my articles with me. Then it became more and more.

Blogging has taught me

To drink lots of tea. To step out of my comfort zone. To keep trying something new.

Am I done with my blog?

No way! There are so many more things to learn and try and I can’t wait to keep my adventure going. I wonder where it will take me to next.

Inspiration-My Zen 2020 box Calendar

January 3rd page from Zen 2020 box calendar

Every year I get a new Zen calendar with quotes daily. This week the quote on January 3rd was: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” -Lao Tzu. I could not think of a quote more perfect for this post.

The first step is always the hardest. Every day is a new beginning-you fall off track it doesn’t mean stop it just means pick yourself up, grab some tea and start again.

At a stop sign do you just turn off the car and sit there or put your foot back on the gas and go?

Take a leap, try something new-especially if it’s with a new type of tea.

I hope you have the most wonderful 2020. I look forward to new adventures.

Stay open to opportunities

Enjoy an adventure

Find inspiration everyday

Have gratitude

Don’t sweat the small stuff

Have renewed hope

Enjoy reinventing the new

My heartfelt thanks

Thank you to my tea drinking family and friends from reviewers to suggestion givers. I am so thankful for the people who take the time to read, comment, and like my blog or social media accounts. I never expected this and I am so grateful for your support of my tips and tea.

Let’s put the kettle on.
