Christmas tree by tea cup and saucer

Tea Party for One

Christmas has come and gone. We had a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends. Christmas Crackers in full swing, crowns on our heads and wonderful food. Christmas Crackers are an English tradition and we use them every year. They are tubes that make a loud crack when you pull them. In the tubes there is a toy, a cheesy joke and a paper crown (you can buy crackers with more boring/practical things and crown inside-we don’t). The  cheesy jokes are always read aloud and it is a great time for all. Super fun!

Oops that didn’t happen

Not all things I had planned for the holidays were accomplished by Christmas itself. The Gingerbread House being one of them still sat on the counter in its box. Instead of stress about it we decided it is more fun to do after Christmas. Less rush. Our Gingerbread Houses are not exactly Hallmark looking but where’s the fun in that? As long as it’s standing I’m happy 🙂

Thankful

Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) gave me time to play with my toys/presents I received  Not all of my gifts were tea related but many were. I was very blessed. Now it is time to enjoy my few days off work and have a tea party for one.

Holiday Mugs

During the holidays I am always drinking out of one of my many seasonal mugs I have collected or received over the years. I think giving mugs, cups or cups and saucers says take some time for yourself and stop for tea. This year a beautiful mug addition was one I received from a tea drinking friend.

Tea Party for one

Having a cup of tea alone should be as special as sharing with friends. When time permits to re-center I highly recommend a tea party for one. Pull out a favorite mug or cup- I pulled out my brand new cup and saucer that I received on Christmas Day. I was so glad Santa delivered this as I had been eyeing it. I made a pot of my favorite PG Tips and heated the remaining Sticky Fingers Bakeries scone that we had made for Christmas morning. My clotted cream and jam at the ready I found a quiet spot by the Christmas tree.

Time to recharge

Taking those few minutes alone to relax and enjoy some yummy tea really hits the button to recharge. It makes me appreciate all of the small things and look forward to things to come. Even with my pushy dog needing to sit on my lap.

As the New Year approaches I hope you have time for a tea party for one. May 2020 bring joy and of course some more yummy tea into your life.

Just read your post and it really hit the spot, so to speak! I agree that “tea for one” is definitely a must from time to time, and a specially chosen cup makes it all the better! Thank you for the many ideas within your message of how to give oneself a little extra TLC! Happy New Year!

Couldn’t agree more with the earlier poster. Tea can be a great social experience, but for us introverts – a little quiet reflection with a good cup is always a great investment of time.
