David’s Tea Pumpkin Chai

If you ask anyone who knows me they will say I am a person that thinks my birthday is a month long.  Thinks?? I know it is a month long celebration! Anyway another yummy tea birthday treat was in store for me this year. David’s Tea Pumpkin Chai.

The mail arrived and a package was left on my porch. Opening it up I found there was something wrapped in paper and thoroughly wrapped over and over and over again in tape. Next to it a silver canister. Ripping the paper and tape off of the gift it was a brand new mug from my non-hot tea drinking daughter and a slightly dented silver canister. That slightly dented silver canister was what protected DAVID’s tea Pumpkin Chai.

David’s tea Fan

I have loved David’s tea since I discovered one of their shops on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago in January (brrrrrrr). It was there I stumbled across Buddha’s Blend, only because I liked the name and packaging. Since then I have tried David’s tea sampler sets and many other David’s teas. Needless to say I’m a huge David’s tea Fan.

The look and smell

I opened up the silver canister and oh my goodness the smell of this pumpkin chai  is tremendous, and the colors within this tea were amazing. It makes you think of the changing leaves of Autumn.  My top notch tea testers and myself could not wait to try it.

It’s Autumn- there’s a chill in the air

Now here in Central Texas the weather is still in the 90’s so it may not really feel like what Autumn feels like elsewhere but Autumn it is and it’s time to put the kettle on for my yummy Spiced Chai.

The Silver Canister

This particular silver container was very different to my other David’s teas. It was plain with the David’s tea logo and a kind of sticker with tea info on the side. I found out from my non-hot tea drinking daughter that it was tea selected from bigger canisters like the Argo tea I sampled.

  • Pumpkin candies
  • Pumpkin flakes
  • Natural and artificial flavoring

Brewing Process

I loved this description

1-2 PS per 4.75 ML (16oz) (I assumed PS was perfect spoon)

95C /200F Boiling

3-5 min

Out comes the Steeper

I decided to use my Steeper with this tea. I still love my Steeper by David’s Tea. Like my glass teapot, the Steeper still allows me to see the color as the tea brews. What I love about the Steeper is instead of pouring the tea I place it on my cup and the tea is released; I lift it off the first cup and the tea stops releasing and put it on another cup and it starts releasing again. No mess! It still works perfectly every time.

Thoughts

The top tea testers were on the job, my husband, hot tea drinking daughter and myself. I steeped our tea for 5 minutes as I like a stronger tea. This is a yummy tea that did not disappoint. It is very flavorful but not overly pumpkiny. It can easily be enjoyed plain, but I added milk and it was absolutely delicious. This will be high up on my tea list this Autumn.

Autumn is a wonderful season to try a new tea. Do you have a favorite for this time of year?

I love a good Chai tea – so I will be trying this. It will be great once the weather cools. Thanks for sharing the links. Very helpful.
