Doesn’t everyone need some Zen in their life? I sure could use it in mine. I found some on a recent tea journey in New Braunfels, Texas. A little off the beaten path was a charming little shop and tea shop-why I don’t mind if I do. We stopped in for tea at Everything Zen.
What is Everything Zen
This quaint shop, between Austin and San Antonio, Texas, has a little of everything. It has candles, incense, rocks, crystals, clothes, shoes, books and of course the best part-tea. My husband and I looked around the shop for a while, chatted to the owner, then we headed to the tea room.
Tearoom
The intimate tea room has 3 tables. There is also a small outdoor patio area. It was our weekend of chilly weather here in Central Texas so we sat inside. On one wall was a display of teas, teapots, tea accessories and some local honey. One of the teas for sale was Blueberry Acai by Tea Drops tea. The owner and I chatted away about the brand, I mentioned how I liked they are women owned and support the water project and how Tea Drops Tea is a huge hit at our house. EEK-He might have guessed I like tea.
You had me at tea
The tea menu consisted of a variety of tea, tea and more tea, oh and matcha tea ice cream. I was in heaven! I ordered a Bombay Chai and my husband went with the cucumber mint green tea. Our choices for sizes were a cup of tea, small teapot or large teapot. We each choose a small teapot each.
While we waited for the tea I had time to check out all of the tea items and had a close eye on an infuser and local honey.
The tea arrived. The Japanese teapots and cups were adorable. The owner informed us of how the teas had steeped for 5 minutes and to make sure and keep a finger on the teapot lid. We chatted a little more about the pots and the Japanese tray he delivered the tea on and then we were left alone.
Tranquility
It was so peaceful. The trickling sound of a water fountain, soft music, and tea. We were checked on and given a bell should we need to get his attention. My husband and I shared and finished off both pots of our delicious teas.
After we looked around the whole store some more we decided to make a few purchases. The tea infuser that I had been eyeing, the local honey and a crystal.
I signed up for the Everything Zen newsletter. They offer some classes such as meditation and sometimes tea tastings. I will definitely keep an eye out for those.
So when you need the world to slow down a little I suggest stopping by Everything Zen for a great chat and a yummy tea. If you are not in the local area I hope you can find something similar in your neighborhood.
