Bigelow Plantation Mint, Mint Medley and HEB Cucumber Mint foils and teas in 3 cups

Let’s Make it Minty with Mint Teas

OK confession time-I do not drink enough water.  I have decided to give myself a challenge to rectify this and drink so many ounces a day.  You would think this would be easy but I really only like water if I add something to it to add a bit of flavor. Maybe it makes it taste more like tea. Anyway-I don’t always have the time for a full infused concoction of fruit and  herbs in water so instead I add a slice of lemon but that gets boring after a while. Luckily as the weather has started to warm up I see that my faithful old mint is coming back so I add a leaf or 2 of that to water instead-delish!

Even though I am upping my water drinking game that does not stop my tea intake. As I love the water with mint I thought why would I not like tea with mint? So I decided to give mint teas a go-but where should I start?

Luckily my husband is already a huge mint tea fan. Sometimes caffeinated, sometimes not. With having some mint teas already recommended I decided that was where I should begin.

After my plan was in place I hit my local grocery store to replenish the mint teas. While I was there I also found a mint and cucumber tea-that one really sounded good to me-my husband wasn’t too sure. I decided we needed to try and compare them all as he was already familiar with the other two kinds of tea. So it was time to put the mint verses the mint-cucumber to the test-which is better?? Here are my thoughts.

The teas we tried

Bigelow-American Classic-Plantation Mint (black tea with spearmint)

Bigelow-American Classic-Mint Medley (herbal spearmint and peppermint)

H-E-B Cucumber Mint (green tea with peppermint and cucumber)

Each package contained 20 tea bags individually wrapped.

Health Benefits of mint teas:

I love looking at the health benefits of tea and researching them for myself. Many sites do contain other health benefits I just add the basics so look them up if you’d like to see others opinions on other tea benefits.

As you know black and green tea both have health benefits with antioxidants which are good for our blood cells and many ailments.

Spearmint good for digestive upsets, helps relieve heartburn and nausea. High in antioxidants. Help with memory, reduce stress and more.

Peppermint: also good for digestive health, headaches, clogged sinuses (due to the menthol) helps with seasonal allergies and more

Cucumber hydration, antioxidants, skin and bone health. Rich with vitamins C and K.

Thoughts

Not only did I have my topnotch reviewers for this tea but a friend of my hot tea drinking daughter was also included in this tea review. We enjoyed all of the teas.

Plantation mint had a much stronger minty taste and scent.

Mint Medley had a much milder mint scent and taste but also very good.

Cucumber Mint was also a hit.

Each tea was so different in taste that they would be perfect for any mood you are in or caffeine preference that you have.

Now unfortunately not all of you have an H-E-B close by but I will make sure to try other cucumber ones and let you know.

It’s out there a mint for all-let me know of any you have tried. Stay healthy my friends and drink lots of hot tea!

These all seem like delicious ways to spend your quarantine time. Social Distancing doesnt have to be boring.

    1. So very true. Hot teas are also such a blessing in these times for mood and stress relief as well as immunity boosting elements. Stay well.

  2. I love mint teas, especially fresh peppermint tea made with peppermint from the garden! Like you, I’m not terribly fond of plain water, so adding fruit, mint, or some other herb makes it so much better.

  3. I really like the mint medley. I haven’t tried the rest but with your review, I really want to! I love mint tea especially when I have stomach pains, it soothes my stomach and makes me feel better.

  4. Hi – I absolutely LOVE my teas! Ever since I was a little girl l used to dress up and have tea parties, now I have real ones! At one time I had over 15 teapots and my friends would come over and get to choose there favorite. My favorite tea for bedtime is peppermint or cozy camomile. I like green teas in the afternoon- but my new one that I have been drinking is Kambucha- yummy!
I will have to try the Blue magic tea sometime. Now that I have a house with a backyard again I want to grow spearmint & Valerian (if my cat doesn’t eat it all) yup it’s catnip 🙂

    1. Oh my gosh your tea pot collection sounds like mine! It’s great to have choice.I loved the Blue Magic tea-it is super cool-I also picked up another tea of theirs to try out. Watch out for the cat 🙂

  5. A blog about tea! Sign me up lol. I love tea, any kind well almost, I will admit I am not fond of chai tea, to spicy for me. My favourite mint tea is the Moroccan Mint tea. However my favourite saying for tea is….. “So many teas, so little time”. 😊 now with your list of mint teas my list has just gotten longer, I think I will be trying the mint cucumber tea as it sounds delicious. Thank you again for sharing this blog

    1. Thank you! There are so many teas so little time!! We must struggle and drink more 🙂 The mint teas were so refreshing.
