Theory Coffee Company

Theory Coffee Company, Patty Mills and me-anyone for tea?

To all of my non-U.S. friends-last Sunday was Mother’s Day here. It was a fun, jam packed day for me filled with of course tons and tons of tea. So how exactly did a San Antonio Spur get me to search out Theory Coffee Company on this particular day? #GiveMamaCoffee -or in my case tea- to help out our community.

Mother’s Day

My college kiddo has been home due to a certain pandemic so both of my girls made my traditional delicious breakfast in bed. They have done this since they were babies (with my husband’s assistance back then). I was served homemade chorizo and egg tacos and fruit which was accompanied of course by some yummy, milky P-G Tips-just the way I like it. I must say, if I have taught my girls anything in life it’s how to make a good cup of tea. What more do they need?

Chaos averted

Now my little dogs, who I thought no longer could get on my “Princess and the Pea” bed unassisted, both managed to jump up there to check out my breakfast. Thankfully they did not spill my tea or steal my taco-which my small brown one could easily do-so good start to the day.

Basketball and Coffee

No-I did not decide to then go and play a quick game of basketball-I’m not really Sporty Spice. True confession-unless it’s American Ninja Warrior, I’m not really into sports. Don’t panic-I do support our San Antonio Spurs but have only seen a handful of games live and I am usually reminded of the rules. I do however know the San Antonio Spurs player Patty Mills. Now this may not be due to his basketball ability and it could be more for his cute Australian accent—but I digress. Anyway a friend on Facebook shared his post on Saturday that Patty Mills wrote about Mother’s Day. He said “If there’s 2 things I love more than anything in the world they are probably 1 my mom and 2 coffee.” He then went on to announce #GiveMamaCoffee. This would be a Mother’s Day drive benefiting Family Violence Prevention Services-Battered Women and Children’s shelter. I knew I had to share the post but most importantly participate in this event.

#GiveMamaCoffee

Patty Mills went on to describe that on Mother’s day from 7am-2pm if anyone ordered curbside from one of the following 8 local coffee shops-using social distancing of course-that the amount raised on drinks, food, merch, he would match and double the sale. He would then donate the money to Family Violence Prevention Services-Battered Women and Children’s shelter. He explained that the money not only helps local businesses but will help countless victims of domestic violence which unfortunately is projected to increase by 20% due to Covid.

Participating Coffee Shops

As I looked through the list I saw Indy Coffee Company. They have great chai and awesome food. With choices like that I knew wherever I chose I could be in for a Mother’s Day treat. The 8 coffee shops included were:

  • Press Coffee
  • Mild Fire Coffee
  • Indy Coffee Company
  • Theory Coffee Company
  • Scorpion
  • Estate Coffee Company
  • Brown Coffee Company (2 locations)
  • San Antonio Gold.

Theory Coffee Company

I chose to participate in #GiveMamaCoffee getting my to go from Theory Coffee Company. They have been on my tea radar for a while. They are housed in a really awesome looking trailer that I had heard so many good things about. We easily placed our order online and with masks at the ready my husband and non hot tea drinking daughter stopped by and picked up curbside.

Theory Coffee Company Chai Latte

Thoughts??

My hot tea drinking daughter and myself had chai lattes, my husband had a cafe au lait and my non hot tea drinking daughter the iced vanilla chai. They were all so good! The chai was amazing and had a great spice taste and wonderful smell. My husband and other daughter both really enjoyed theirs too. This is a definite add to our list of tea/coffee stops.

Mother’s Day for Mum

The next part of my day was planning a surprise Mother’s Day lunch for my own Mother. I put together a tea party with salmon and cucumber sandwiches and my youngest made her some Sticky Fingers scones. My Mother and I enjoyed both of those with some tea. We topped off lunch with some yummy Mummy’s Day mimosas :).

Surprise desert

You would think my day was done with all that but I was surprised later by  being socially distanced and given some homemade coffee cake that was awesome to have after a yummy grilled dinner. The cake seemed to disappear pretty fast too-delish.

I had a great tea-and coffee Mother’s Day. Thank you to my family, friends and Patty Mills for making it so special. You never know maybe I’ll start watching the Spurs now. Wait-when does that start???

Theory Coffee Company hours and location

According to the Theory Coffee Company website they are usually open Monday-Friday 6am-2pm and Saturday 7am-12pm. Besides Mother’s Day  Sunday this year they are usually closed on Sundays. They are conveniently located off 410 and Nacogdoches (close to the San Antonio airport) at 2347 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, Texas. If you are ever in that neck of the woods I would suggest stopping by for some of their locally roasted coffee or grab some tea from the Theory Coffee Company.
