Teabloom glass teapot with Mikasa cup and saucer

Choosing a Glass Teapot

As I go through my  Alice in Wonderland journey of discovering new teas I found Buddha Tea by DAVID’s TEA. When I was drinking it the other day I realized that not only does it smell and taste fantastic but I also like the color of this tea when it is poured into a glass mug. That’s when I decided I wanted a glass teapot to continue my tea adventure.

I have not purchased a teapot in years. If I was looking for a standard stoneware teapot I would at least know what I was looking for. I have a stoneware teapot solely for my yummy black tea. I have another tea pot for anything other than black tea. A glass one-well some research was in order.

I jumped on amazon.  The choices of glass teapots are endless and hit a variety of budgets. There were so many designs and ratings. Sizes of teapots vary from 1 cup and up. I spent a good hour going through all of the details.

Here are some of the choices

There are glass teapots with clear or stainless steel infusers, also stainless steel strainers.

There are glass teapots you can boil on the stove, omitting the kettle.  There are ones you can not use on the stove at all.

There are glass teapots that can be used in the microwave.

There are glass teapots with  warmers

There are glass teapots that have glass cups to go with the set.

There are glass teapots that you hand wash or are dishwasher safe and so on.

I knew I wanted 2 things for my glass teapot to begin with, good reviews and PRIME. We will discuss my obsession with PRIME at a later date.

My Style

There’s such a variety of style with glass teapots, I suggest really looking through them all to see what suits you. I decided I wanted something that looked like a teapot with a handle and long spout-as in I’m a little teapot.

Size:  I decided I wanted one that could easily fill 4 mugs.  I calculated the ounces by putting water in another pot so knew it would be OK.

I did not want a tea warmer or cups. It was just too many extra pieces.

I knew on my tea journey I would need a glass teapot to accommodate bagged tea (my current Buddha tea) and I knew I have some Stash loose tea that I’m going to try.  I really got distracted by the flowering tea pictures when looking at the variety of glass teapots and knew I would have to try that too. That is what made the decision on glass removable infuser.

What I decided

I chose the Teabloom 40 oz glass teapot which already came with 2 flowering teas.

This glass teapot can be used on the stove, which I will try once or twice but I will mostly use my kettle to fill it.  It would be great for someone who does not want a kettle.

It has the glass infuser.

It is dishwasher, top rack safe.  It is microwave safe. I’m not sure if I would use this feature-but never say never.

Most important it does accommodate loose, bagged and flower tea

As I said the teapot holds 40 oz which I was concerned would be HUGE.  It is not at all. In fact it is deceiving in size. It is very petite but holds a lot of liquid.

I was excited when it arrived for the offer of the free extended warranty (I jumped on that) and 20% off another purchase.  I also received a follow up email in case there was any damage on delivery and how I rated the teapot. I have been very pleased with it so far.

Do you have a glass teapot that you love?  Really look at the options if you are thinking of getting one.  There are so many to choose from but I know you will find one that is a perfect fit for your tea journey.

  1. If you drink a lot of tea you probably have more than one teapot. I love the pretty bone china ones I brought with me from England more than thirty years ago but will be shopping for a glass one this week.

  2. I’m a tea lover myself and honestly haven’t invested in any tea pots, but that transparent one sounds like a must have. I can already imagine the different colors of tea brewing
