Blüm-there’s coffee but bring on the tea!

My  friend told me about a new coffee and tea shop in San Antonio. She had me at the word TEA. She had seen an article in MySA, written by food writer Chuck Blount, about Blüm Specialty Coffee and Tea opening.

As I do with all coffee (and tea shops) like Indy Coffee Club I hopped on Blüm’s website, Blumcoffeeandtea.com, to see the tea selections. The site is new and no menu was listed. I was going into this place cold.

Location

Blüm Specialty Coffee and Tea is housed within a collaborative work space called the Paradox. Signage out front reads Conference. Co-working. Coffee. Paradox is at 8522 Broadway street. Easy to find and only  2.1 miles from the airport and just off of IH 410.

Description of the space

As soon as you walk into the paradox co-working space the first area you go into is the coffee shop. You do not feel as though you are intruding on anyone’s work space. It was a very calming space, succulents on the tables, very clean-almost Zen with seating throughout but definitely not on top of each other so you feel like you have your own space. Another patron told us how good the tea was on his way out. Time to give it a try.

How the tea latte is made

The owner is very sweet. As it was our first time she let us know that the loose leaf tea latte is made in a tea only espresso machine using either whole or almond milk. As I had my other hot drinking reviewers with me (my husband and hot tea drinking daughter) we each chose one of these teas. My husband tried the Moroccan Mint, my daughter chose the Raspberry Rose and I went with Emerald Green.

Tea Time

The teas came in cute jars with napkins tied around them. The Raspberry Rose had edible flowers on top. We tried a bit of each one before we devoured our own. They smelt amazing and the presentation was adorable and finally THEY ARE SO GOOD! Really delicious. I would go back there without hesitation and would highly recommend it.

These teas can also be made as iced or hot.

Sweet Tooth

My hot tea drinking daughter has a serious sweet tooth and looked over the selection of sweets and treats. She chose to try a raspberry hand pie. According to the menu the deserts are delivered daily by The Bread Box in San Antonio. We all had to try some of it and it was great.

Coffee

For all of my coffee drinking friends don’t panic there are coffees, espressos, Lattes and something called a nitro cold brew. I suggest you check it out too.

Hours

If you do have the opportunity to pop over for some tea, coffee or pastries make sure to check on their hours though. They are open 7am-7pm weekdays and 7am-4pm on Saturdays.

History

As I looked this coffee and tea shop up online before I went in, Blüm started at a farmers market in San Antonio. Check out the articles on them.

I wish Blüm lots of success and hope if you have the chance and are in the San Antonio area you stop by and try one of their yummy teas, ok–or coffee, and let me know what you think. For all of my tea drinkers I would love to hear about your experience and what tea you tried.
