Stash Tea-The Portland blend. Glass teapot and yellow tea cup and saucer

I forgot the Stash: Stash Tea-The Portland Blend

Last summer we went on a cruise to Alaska for my mother’s birthday. No age mentioned for fear of repercussion. Not only did we discover bears and wolves and icebergs, we also discovered Stash tea.  Well indirectly.

Cruise

My Mother had decided instead of a party for a big birthday she would like to go on a cruise.  An Alaskan cruise. Wait…What? It’s summer. No swimsuit? We need a coat? ICEBERGS!  I’ve seen Titanic, you know how that ends!  Anyway. The trip was planned. My Mother, my brother, his family and me with mine. Our dear friend and her daughter had never been to Alaska or on a cruise and wanted to come too. The more the merrier! We were all set.  Off to chilly Alaska.

The joy of finding a winter coat for my husband in the Spring in Texas was not as easy as putting the whole trip together (thanks again Amazon.) All bundled up with gifts in hand we started the birthday cruise. My dear friend who joined us to celebrate my mother’s birthday is a transplanted Texan in Portland, Oregon. She has known my Mother for more years than I care to remember, she also came aboard with a few gifts for my Mother’s birthday and one of those was Stash tea-The Portland Blend.

My mother and I drink tea almost daily together. We have many discussions over tea, about tea (go figure). Alaska came up in conversation and we realized we’d never tried the Stash Tea. I needed to rectify that situation and convinced my Mother that for the good of the blog, humanity and myself, to let me try the Stash tea.  Yes she will get some, eventually.

Well the description on the packaging brought a smile to my face. Eclectic and quirky  just like Portland. I knew this could be a tea for me.

First Impressions of Stash Tea-The Portland Blend 3.5oz

The  simple packaging, fun picture.

The description was great.

The smell was amazing!

The leaves were fun and colorful.

All good so far.

I whipped out my glass teapot and did 3 flat tea spoons for 3 cups of tea.  Put it on for the 5 minute brew as I prefer my tea a little stronger. The instructions on the packaging said 3-5.

This tea did not disappoint. Wow what a flavor. Great taste!

Cocoa nibs

Rose Congou black tea

Natural raspberry flavor

Blue cornflower petals

Yummy!

The packaging recommends enjoying it on a rainy day.
Well it wasn’t rainy that day, but we were in the midst of our 2-3 days of winter, so I figured that would count. It worked out well.

The Milk Debate

Now remember each person should have tea the way they prefer it. Some add Milk, honey, sugar, lemon or just drink tea without anything added. So don’t groan when I say I added milk. There’s really no hard and fast rules how you should choose to have your own tea but I steer clear of putting milk in green tea. For The Portland Blend My husband and daughter had it plain and loved it.

My Conclusion on Stash Tea-Portland Blend

So Portland. Rainy day, sunny day, anyday-yep. this tea is also now in rotation. My family agrees.

Prime? You bet.

Have you tried any Stash Teas?
