Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset tea tin

Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset-don’t mind if I do

There I was again wandering around World Market when I came upon a display of teas I had never seen before, Harney and Sons tea.  It gave me somewhat of a chuckle as Harney is an old family name. Maybe there could be a distant relative in the tea business? You never know.

World Market Display

The Harney and Sons display was huge. It was tough to pick just one tea but I decided on the Hot Cinnamon Sunset. I chose this particular tea based on my normal logic when picking tea: the cute tin and name. That method has not failed me yet.

Harney and Sons Hotel Teas

The very same week a sweet friend of mine brought me a gift from her trip to Nashville, a variety of teas that the hotel provided. Best gift ever! To my surprise they were a variety of Harney and Sons teas. You know what that means-time to check out Harney and Sons tea. I put the kettle on.

The Packaging

Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset is in a cute copper/brown tin.  I could easily see this as part of a gift basket for any tea lover. According to the tin it is described as 20 sachets of a black tea with cinnamon, orange and sweet cloves. A remarkable assertive, medium bodied tea loaded with sweet and spicy flavors with a caffeine content of 40-60 milligrams.

Ingredients

  • Black tea
  • Orange peel
  • Natural and artificial cinnamon flavor
  • Cinnamon
  • Cloves

Brewing instructions

  • Boil the water until warm to touch and discard it
  • 1 sachet for 2 cups of tea
  • Pour boiling water over the sachet
  • Seep for 5 minutes.

Storage suggestions

No light, moisture or scent and store tightly sealed.

Our thoughts

I got out my glass teapot and assembled my top notch team of reviewers, my husband, my hot tea drinking daughter and myself.

Before even trying the tea I really liked the fact that the packaging gives so much information, that you are advised to warm up and discard old water in your kettle. I always discard older water from my kettle and water plants etc  I have no idea where this came from. Possible relative connection? It is probably just something my Grandmother did.

I also liked that you only needed 1 sachet for 2 cups of tea and are informed not only how to brew the tea but how to store it.

The moment I took the lid off of the tin I was hit by the most amazing smell of cinnamon and orange.  I loved the cute sachets.

The taste is sweet but not overly sweet with a creamy flavor. I did not use milk for this tea.

Hot Cinnamon Sunset was a hit! I would definitely purchase this again. I can’t wait to try the variety of other Harney and Sons tea my friend gave me. I will keep you posted.

      1. Hot cinnamon sunset is wonderfully bold spicy as the name states. The flavor is much more complex than just cinnamon, but you get the point. Definitely not my grandmother’s tea.
