I was running around doing a mad dash of last minute shopping when I decided I wanted to pop into a new shop I’d been eyeing on Austin Highway in San Antonio-GOOD Goods. This shop has an eclectic selection of things old and new-right up my Alley and a great place for gift ideas. What was the first thing I stumbled upon as I entered the store? Something I knew I could use for tea. A ceramic tea infuser.
Ceramic tea infusers
There were a collection of different types of white clay strainers or sieves when I first entered the store. Tea infusers! Yay! The lady working there thought they were for tea but was unsure as some of the holes are larger so fine tea would pour right through. Most of my teas I use wouldn’t so I picked one up to put it to the test.
I grabbed a few more gifts as I headed out. I was there to purchase for other people after all.
The tea infuser test
I decided I needed to use some of my nuttier or thicker tea blends for this infuser so I chose Sweet Gunpowder by The Old Barrel Tea Company. This tea is a yummy green tea so I put my kettle on the green tea selection. Fun fact-Gunpowder tea got its name as the tea is rolled into pellets and named because it ends up looking like gunpowder.
Sweet Gunpowder
I was first introduced to Sweet Gunpowder and the Old Barrel Tea Company on a road trip through New Mexico. I still love this green tea. It has the flavor of apple pieces, cinnamon bark, rose hips, marigold flowers, rose petals, Creme Brulee flavor and other natural flavors. A truly yummy tea and it smells amazing.
Thoughts on Ceramic infusers
The infuser worked perfectly. It is very pretty-a great gift-even for yourself
It needs to be hand washed and It is delicate but placed on the right sized cup works like a charm. I will definitely be using this for my yummy heavier blends. It will also be great for teabags and not having to fish them out from the bottom of the cup.
Multi purpose
This infuser could be multi purpose. It could be used for squeezing oranges or lemons or as a tiny colander but for me it’s purely for tea.
Where to find them
If you are interested I did a brief search and found some ceramic tea infusers on Etsy. If you are close by GOOD Goods is a shop you may want to check out when you get the chance. Not only for tea.
Now that the infuser has been tested it has been cleaned and whisked away. I guess I wont see it again until December 25th.
Have a wonderful holiday season-make sure to enjoy tons of tea.
