I had not been down to the coastal town of Port Aransas, Texas since Hurricane Harvey hit in August 2017. Thankfully the town has pulled itself almost fully back together and we decided to spend a few days there to watch the beauty of the sunrise and run around looking for crabs in the evening. Beach time, pool time, shopping time but most importantly, family time. My first priority when we got to town? You guessed it, tea. We found some inside a blue coffee shop, Coffee Waves.
Finding my tea in a Coffee shop
Before I had even packed for the trip I did my usual, searched online and scoured out my location to grab tea. This is how I found the Indy Coffee Club in San Antonio as well as many other coffee and tea shops. This is how I found Coffee Waves. Does Coffee Waves stand up to the test of whether there is any yummy tea in Port Aransas, Texas?
Coffee Waves
The blue building was cute. Inside was so much bigger than it appeared from outside. Kind of like a Tardis in Dr Who. As well as a large range of coffee and tea there was also a Gelato bar. There was art on the wall for sale as well as an awesome mural. It had a really large seating area and a smaller area with tables. It was really cute.
Time for Tea
My husband and I decided on a chai, my hot tea drinking daughter wanted a Mexican hot chocolate-my non hot tea drinking daughter wanted iced Mexican Hot chocolate-Huh? I tried a little bit of each beverage and they were all delicious. It’s well worth checking it out if you are ever in Port Aransas.
I scream you scream we all scream for Ice Cream
Even though we have not been to Port Aransas for a few years we made sure to stop by our favorite Ice Cream shop, the Deserted Island Ice Cream Shop. Another must for any trip and another place I would highly recommend. It’s not a tea shop but when I ventured in this time the first thing I saw was a table based on tea. What could be better? I would love to make something like this. Super cool. I have an old table and have vowed to do it up in a similar fashion. Ummmm we’ll see if that happens. I’ll keep you posted.
Anyway final day in Port Aransas and for the journey home another tea was needed for the road. This time Coffee Waves was super busy with families having the same idea. The line went pretty fast though and 3 yummy chai’s and a grasshopper frappuccino accompanied us on our travels. What we did not realize until the end was there’s a drive through. Not obvious at all so if you go down and need a quick pop in and go tea or coffee then you always have that option.
According to the Coffee Waves website they have 3 locations, 2 in Corpus Christi as well as the newly restored one in Port Aransas.
I’m so glad Port A is getting back on its feet.
