White cup and saucer and Primula glass teapot with Cream of Earl Grey tea in them

The Primula Glass Teapot Such a New Treasure

So I am not saying I am nuts for tea-oh wait who am I kidding-I am nuts for tea-anyway when I got the text-”tagged you in a post-TEAPOT!” I instantly stopped what I was doing and jumped on Facebook. I had been tagged in a post for a Primula Glass Teapot-and the best part-it was free!! I quickly typed SOLD!

Three glass teapots, Kitchen Kite, Teabloom and Primula

Teapots

OK true confession, I currently own 2 glass teapots. One by Teabloom, the other Kitchen Kite. You can never have too many teapots, right? Ummm I think I’m up to about 17 total-but that does include many sizes and some decorative ones-so what’s one more?  Even though each of these glass teapots have similarities they are also very different. The most noticeable difference was the Primula has a small spout/lip. It is very cute.

I was so excited as this teapot was brand new, never used and even had the flowering tea still in the box. According to the packaging this Glass Teapot is a 3 piece set meaning lid, infuser and teapot itself (all glass). It holds 40oz (5 cups) of liquid. There is a bonus Tea Flower included. The packaging discusses the health benefits of tea.

Packaging

One side of the box had the description on how to make loose or bagged tea with this pot. On the other side It had directions on how to brew the flowering tea. There was also a pamphlet inside the box with further information on the flowering tea and more brewing instructions.

First use

I could not wait to use my new pot. I first tried it for my Licorice Spice by Stash (teabags), then on to an old favorite Cream of Earl Grey (loose tea) by David’s Tea. The directions on the box said loose tea was preferred for this pot (as well as flowering) but I did teabags in the infuser and they were just fine.

Thoughts

Borosilicate Glass: The packaging for this teapot does not indicate that it is made with borosilicate glass like my other 2 teapots. Borosilicate glass is glass that handles heat (can be used on the stove).

Newer Models?? I went on Amazon and found some Primula teapots with the same design that are made with borosilicate glass. I will include the link for that. Make sure to check the glass information on any glass teapot packaging to make sure it is heat resistant if that is a feature you want.. The ones on Amazon may be a newer version.

Glass Infuser:With this pot you need to remove the infuser before pouring the tea. I do not have to do that with my other glass tea pots. I did not find that inconvenient because I knew what to expect. I just knew to be careful as it’s hot.

Dishwasher:The packaging of mine does not state it is top rack dishwasher safe-but I baby all of my glass teapots anyway so even if they say dishwasher safe I wash them by hand.

Stove Top:the packaging on mine specifically states do not use on the stove top.

To me this teapot is like many of my other teapots-pour hot water in and enjoy a fabulous cup of tea. It is such a cute addition to an enjoyable tea time alone or with friends. I would say this would be a nice gift for a tea lover.

Look around-you’ll never know what tea treasure you can find-especially if all of your friends and family are involved,

Have you found any tea treasures?

Safety and glass teapots

  • Always read the packaging with a glass teapot for what they can be used for.
  • Make sure to check the glass information on the packaging. Whether it is heat resistant.
  • Always check for cracks or chips before use-do not use if there are any.
  • Glass teapots still break.

The link provided is the Primula Teapot I have and the one with the same design but is the one with borosilicate glass.
